International Master in Innovations and Excellence in Upper Airway surgery for Sleep Breathing Disorders (SBD) is organized by Department of Otolaryngology of Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital Foundation.
This advanced, university-recognized program offers comprehensive theoretical education and intensive hands-on training in the diagnosis, medical management, and surgical treatment of sleep-disordered breathing, with a primary focus on Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Snoring (OSA).
Designed to address a significant global educational gap, this Master represents the first structured university Master in Sleep Surgery
in Europe, providing physicians with a rigorous academic pathway in a field traditionally limited to short courses and non-accredited
workshops.

The Master is designed for healthcare professionals, particularly ENT specialists and maxillofacial surgeons.

This Master is not just about learning techniques—it’s about building a clinical framework to approach sleep-disordered breathing in a holistic, patient-centered way. Graduates will be equipped to lead multidisciplinary sleep teams, interpret diagnostic studies, and perform a wide range of surgical procedures with competence and confidence.

Learning format:
Blended learning with in-person lessons Blended learning with in-person lessons at Campus Bio-Medico University or at selected affiliated sleep centers worldwide and synchronous online classes.

Duration:
12 months (September 2026 – September 2027)

Teaching activities:
A structured program of online learning, on-site training, and clinical practice

Face-to-face activities:
Organized in two distinct in-person periods during the course, held at Università Campus Bio-Meico di Roma and selected leading international affiliated sleep centers.

The application deadline is July 20th, 2026. A good level of English is required.

The Master is open exclusively to applicants who hold a Degree in Medicine and Surgery and who have either:

  • already obtained a specialization in Otorhinolaryngology, or
  • are currently enrolled in a School of Specialization in Otorhinolaryngology.

Applicants will be selected based on specific requirements agreed upon with the Course Directors and the Scientific Coordinator, including professional experience, motivation, and English proficiency.

The registration fee is € 6.000 and is divided in three instalments:

€ 2.000 by registration date (28 of July 2026)

€ 2.000 by the 30th of November 2026

€ 2.000 by the 31st of March 2027

A special tuition fee of € 3,500 is reserved for fellows of Prof. Rodolfo Lugo’s Sleep Breathing Disorders Surgery Fellowship.

Students will be awarded with an International Master in Innovations and Excellence in Upper Airway surgery for Sleep Breathing Disorders (SBD) Diploma stating the Italian credits (60 CFU/60 ECTS).

The International Master in Innovations and Excellence in Upper Airway surgery for Sleep Breathing Disorders (SBD) to a “Master Universitario di Secondo Livello”, in accordance with the Italian university system.

The issue of the Diploma is subject to regular attendance (mandatory for a number of hours of not less than 80% of the lessons and 100% of practice activities), to passing the final test and to payment of the registration fee.
